What kind of spirit and values are needed in today's society

In traditional Chinese society, Confucianism occupies an unshakable dominant position, ruling the minds of the Chinese for more than 2,000 years. Since the Republic of China, a small group of Chinese intellectuals have spent 50 years destroying Confucian traditions with the help of Western scientific thought, and this is represented by three figures, one of whom is Mr. Ch'en Tu-hsiu, who encouraged the ****tribalist party, and the other is Hu Shih, who put forward the slogan "Fight to the Confucian shop" with some degree of success. The other was Hu Shi, who came up with the slogan "Fight to the Confucian store", with some degree of success, and whose main thesis was that Chinese cultural traditions were being pushed back to give way to a scientific outlook on life. The third important figure was Mr. MAO Zedong. In order to establish his ideal new society on the spiritual level and to completely remove the feudal remnants of Confucian rule, he launched a series of national campaigns for this purpose, and completely cleansed Confucianism from the material world and dealt a heavy blow to the Confucian tradition, and since then, Confucian thoughts and traditions have fallen into disrepair, and although the principles and ethics of Confucianism have not disappeared completely, the decline of Confucian values in today's Although Confucianism has not completely disappeared, the decline of Confucian values in today's China is an indisputable fact.

What kind of spirit and values does China need to lead the way in today's materially rich, spiritually poor, and morally bankrupt society? The material world is reforming, the spiritual world is also reforming, most people are muddled, a small number of thinking people are at a loss, the spirit of the world has no support so that people put their main energy on the pursuit of material wealth, greed, brutality, and without any moral constraints to obtain money and wealth. Chinese people have been suppressed for thousands of years, the dark side of the heart is completely exposed, the success of the king and the loser, as long as you succeed you can rewrite history, change the people's evaluation of you, and today it has become the money is the master, no matter how unethical and moral you do, or how hooliganism, as long as you have money, people will be envious of you, and flattered you. In the face of this almost unmanageable situation, some people have proposed to reshape Confucian ethics and morals and establish mainstream values. In the author's opinion, it is simply impossible to achieve success by sending out Confucian ideas and traditions now, and it is impossible for Confucianism to become China's mainstream values and rule the spiritual world of the Chinese people again in a hundred years. There are four reasons for this:

1. The maintenance of Confucian traditions never relies on people's sincere acceptance of them, but relies more on coercive means, the coercive means of the government, the coercive means of the civil gentry, and the maintenance of these traditions by those with vested interests, who rely on the maintenance of Confucian traditions by Confucians to gain their own status and exploitation of others. Those who rely on familiarizing themselves with the Four Books and Five Classics, and obtaining the merit, once they become officials, they are full of benevolence, righteousness and morality, with a belly full of male thieves and female prostitutes, holding up the banner of Confucian morality on one side, and raiding the people's fat and wealth on the other side, that is why the Qing officials of the successive dynasties in China are so rare, and once in a while, one of them emerges as a role model for the whole world.

2, Confucianism dominates in traditional society, there is an important aspect of Confucianism's monopoly on knowledge, the founder of Confucianism, Confucius was initially mastered the books of the State of Lu, learning a lot of cultural knowledge, especially expertise in the rites of passage, Spring and Autumn period of successive years of war, the books of a large number of countries were destroyed and lost, and later on, countries do not have the knowledge of rites of passage, and Confucius because of the knowledge of the rites of passage, and famous, and then to the knowledge of the rites of passage, and then to the knowledge of the rites of passage. Confucius became famous for his knowledge of rituals, and in turn spread the knowledge to his students, making them one of the few intellectuals of the time. After Han Wu Di dismissed the hundred schools and exclusively respected Confucianism, Confucianism even monopolized the field of knowledge, and there were few opportunities for ordinary people to read, and Confucianism monopolized the information resources and possessed intangible power. After the Republic of China, education became more and more developed, and the information spread rapidly all over the world, and it was impossible for any organization or individual to control and monopolize the knowledge and information, and one of the important means of Confucianism was also lost.

3. With the popularization of knowledge, people became more and more critical, and more and more people began to examine Confucianism dispassionately, and all kinds of shortcomings were gradually exposed, and Confucian ethics and morality also came down. Confucianism in Chinese history has never been able to solve the problem of stable and sustainable development of society, constantly repeating the change of dynasties, Confucianism has always played a role of whoever is in power and whoever serves, Confucianism lacks a kind of universality, with the concept of freedom and democracy y rooted in people's hearts, it is difficult to become the mainstream of thought that lacks universal values.

4. With China's gradual integration into the world, China is no longer a closed world, but has become part of the global system. China has joined the Western-led economic system, and when the economy has reached a certain stage of development, in order to maintain the economic achievements and to protect the individual's wealth, the spirit of the Western contract has inevitably gained the acceptance of the country's people, and it is no longer a moral code that maintains the functioning of the whole society, but the spirit of the rule of law. The spirit of the rule of law, and Confucianism has always rejected legalism, has always put moral preaching above the rule of law, Confucianism is not very helpful to the establishment of the modern social order.

The decline of Confucianism has been a historical inevitability, and any attempt to rebuild Confucian ethics and morality is impossible and futile, and is only wishful thinking. China has embarked on the road of Western economic development, social governance is also following the example of the West, in order to achieve sustained and stable development of society, we must establish the spirit of contract in society, the promotion of the concept of the rule of law, and the gradual establishment of civil society, out of the cycle of the rise and fall of dynasties.
