The heart of the car-the engine

Engine is the source of automobile power output and plays an important role in the structure of the whole vehicle. Different engines are also an important reference to distinguish and measure the quality of car washing. In daily life, according to the different power sources of engines, we divide automobile engines into four categories: gasoline engines, diesel engines, electric engines and hybrid engines. As a vehicle user, it is also necessary to understand and know their differences, advantages and disadvantages.

Gasoline engine is a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine, which uses gasoline as fuel. Burning gasoline converts the thermal energy of gasoline combustion into mechanical energy of piston movement and outputs power to the outside. It has the advantages of high speed, low noise, light weight, convenient start-up and low manufacturing cost.

Diesel engine, like gasoline engine, is also a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine, but the difference is that diesel oil is used as fuel. The thermal energy of diesel engine combustion is converted into mechanical energy and output power. Compared with gasoline engine, it has advantages in emission performance and economic performance because of its larger compression and higher thermal efficiency.

A motor, as its name implies, is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The biggest advantage of electric engines is that they have the least impact on the environment, compared with gasoline and diesel engines. Therefore, its prospect is widely optimistic, but at present, the technical maturity of development is not very mature, realistically speaking.

Oil-electric hybrid power, the mixing device of the first three engines, is generally a power device powered by gasoline or diesel. In terms of fuel economy performance, compared with the same size fuel vehicle, the fuel cost is lower and the power performance is better than that of the same displacement fuel vehicle. But like the motor, the technology is not mature, and the manufacturing cost is much higher than that of the fuel engine. At present, Toyota is the leading automobile company in this field, and its hybrid technology has developed to the second generation.

The above classification of engines is only based on power source, and there are other classification standards, such as cooling mode, piston movement, intake system and so on.
