Where is Zhou Xiao Village?

Zhou Xiao Village is located in Huazhou Street, Haizhu District, Guangzhou in the Pearl River Delta.

Zhou Xiao Village, formerly known as Yingzhou, is a natural village under the jurisdiction of Huazhou Street, Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and a traditional village in China. Located in the southeast of Haizhu District, surrounded by water and shaped like an island, the village covers an area of 4.3 square kilometers. Zhou Xiao Village began in Yuan Dynasty, and bamboo slips were moved from Xinxiang, Henan Province to Zhou Xiao Village in the early Ming Dynasty.

Zhou Xiao Village retains a complete pattern of water towns and enjoys the reputation of "Zhouzhuang in the north and Yingzhou in the south". There are many immovable cultural heritages in the village, including Tianhou Palace, Yuxu Palace, Ancient Bridge, Dengshe Ancient Wharf, and the unique "oyster shell house" in Lingnan water network zone, all of which reflect the historical evidence that the ancient villages in the Pearl River Estuary are composed of water.

Hydrological conditions in Zhou Xiao village:

Xijiangyong is the largest river flowing through Zhou Xiao Village. From the west of the village, it passes around the village from north to south, turns to the southeast at the north of the village 1000 meters, and then flows into the Paifang River from southeast to northeast. This paragraph is called "Dayong". Xijiangyong in the west of the village is divided into two streams in the northwest corner and southwest corner respectively.

The northwest tributary of this river flows south through the village center, joins another stream from the south, turns to the east, and finally flows into the stream. This Y-shaped water system is called "Shigangjiao" locally. A northbound stream flows into Shigangjiao in the center of the village, and a stream bypasses the south edge of the village and flows into the east of the village. Xijiang River is 30 meters wide to 100 meters, with a wide water surface and a water depth of 2 to 3 meters.
