1. Gastrointestinal heat accumulation

Treatment: purging heat and stagnation; Smooth operation and smooth defecation.

Prescription: Huomaren Pill. Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus and Cortex Magnolia Officinalis are used for clearing heat, Fructus Cannabis, Semen Armeniacae Amarum and white honey are used for relaxing bowels, and Radix Paeoniae Alba is used for nourishing yin and regulating nutrition. Treatment: regulating qi and guiding stagnation.

Prescription: Liu Mo soup. In the prescription, the wood incense regulates qi, the linden medicine calms qi, the agarwood lowers qi, and the rhubarb, betel nut and immature bitter orange break qi and stagnate. Cortex Magnolia Officinalis, Rhizoma Cyperi and Radix Bupleuri can be added for supplementing qi. Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Fructus Gardeniae and Radix Gentianae can be added for clearing liver and purging fire if qi stagnation lasts for a long time; Pinellia ternata, Inula flower and ochre can be added for vomiting due to adverse qi. Treatment: Warming interior and dispelling cold, relaxing bowels and relieving pain.

Prescription: Dahuang Fuzi Decoction. In the prescription, aconite is used to warm the interior and dispel cold, rhubarb is used to dispel stagnation, and asarum is used to dispel cold and relieve pain. Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, Cortex Magnolia Officinalis and Radix Aucklandiae can be added to help diarrhea, and Zingiberis Rhizoma and Fructus Foeniculi can be added to increase the effect of dispelling cold. If heartache, vomiting and syncope belong to severe cold accumulation, Sanwubeizi Pill can be used to eliminate cold accumulation.

1. Qi deficiency

Symptoms: the stool is not hard, although it is easy to defecate, but the toilet is weak, sweating, shortness of breath, fatigue after defecation, pale face, weakness of limbs, pale tongue with white fur, weak pulse and difficulty in excretion.

Treatment: Yiqi Runchang.

Prescription: Huangqi Decoction. In the prescription, astragalus supplements the qi of spleen and lung, hemp seed and white honey moisten the intestines to relieve constipation, and dried tangerine peel regulates qi. Ginseng Radix and Atractylodis Rhizoma can be added for patients with severe qi deficiency; If qi deficiency subsides and proctoptosis occurs, it is advisable to use Buzhong Yiqi. For those with insufficient lung qi, Shengmai powder can be added; If kidney qi is insufficient for a long time, Dabuyuan decoction can be used.

2. Blood deficiency

Symptoms: dry stool, dull complexion, palpitation, shortness of breath, insomnia, dreaminess, forgetfulness, pale lips, pale tongue with white fur and thready pulse.

Treatment: nourishing blood and moistening dryness.

Prescription: Runchang Pill. In the prescription, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Rehmanniae nourish yin and blood, Fructus Cannabis and Semen Persicae moisten stool, and Fructus Aurantii depress qi. Radix Scrophulariae, Polygoni Multiflori Radix and Fructus Lycii can be added to nourish blood and moisten intestines. If blood deficiency is internal heat, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae and Rhizoma Picrorhizae can be added to clear the deficiency heat; If the yin blood has recovered and the stool is still dry, Wuren Pill can be used to moisten the intestines.

3. Yin deficiency

Symptoms: dry stool, such as sheep dung, emaciation, dizziness and tinnitus, red face, irritability, hot flashes and night sweats, soreness of waist and knees, red tongue with little fur and rapid pulse.

Treatment: nourishing yin and relaxing bowels.

Prescription: zengye decoction. In the prescription, Radix Scrophulariae, Radix Ophiopogonis and Radix Rehmanniae nourish yin and promote fluid production. Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati and Dendrobium candidum can be added to nourish yin, and Fructus Cannabis, Semen Platycladi and Fructus Trichosanthis can be added to moisten intestines. If the stomach yin is insufficient and the mouth is dry, Yiwei decoction can be used; If the kidney yin is insufficient and the waist and knees are sore, Liuwei Dihuang Pill can be used; If the body fluid is damaged by yin deficiency and dryness and heat, you can add water and row with Zengye Chengqi Decoction.

4. Yang deficiency

Symptoms: dry stool, difficulty in excretion, long urination, pale complexion, tepid limbs, cold pain in the abdomen, cold pain in the waist and knees, pale tongue with white fur, and delayed pulse.

Treatment: warming yang and relaxing bowels.

Prescription: Jichuan Decoction. Cistanche deserticola and Achyranthes bidentata in the prescription warm kidney and help yang, moisten intestines and relieve constipation; Angelica sinensis nourishes blood and moistens intestines; Cimicifuga rhizome and Alisma orientalis are used for clearing turbidity; Fructus Aurantii has wide intestine and lower qi. If the elderly have a cold and constipation, you can use semi-sulfur pills; Warm spleen decoction can be used for those with deficiency of spleen-yang and yin-cold; If kidney yang is insufficient, Shenqi Pill can be used. You can also choose Lizhong Pill, Shen Si Pill and Gui You Pill.
