Today I read an article about our ancestors Yao, Shun and Yu. Maybe everyone knows this story, but I will try my best to write it in English. We can read that Yao, Shun and Yu were the first three great kings in ancient China. They all had a great influence on the history of China. So thousands of years later, all people hope that our country can have such a king, and court officials are also eager to have such a king, but they can never serve them. Because we know little about them, some of them come from legends, we can only speculate that they may be tribal leaders during the transition from primitive society to slave society. It is said that Yao is a descendant of the Yellow Emperor. Historical records show that he is open-minded and wise as a god. People like him, just as the sunflower turns to the sun and longs to see him, just as the dry land longs for rain and clouds. Such a ruler won't cause human objection, but then a huge flood as described in the Bible flooded the country. Yao Wang appointed Gun to control the flood. For nine years, Gun tried his best to stop the flood of water, but failed. King Yao became exhausted after being a monarch for 70 years. He handed over power to Shun, not his morally corrupt son. The father doesn't want "people to suffer for his son." Emperor Yao did not make this decision rashly: he observed all aspects of Shun, and even married both his daughters to him, so as to better understand his character. Shun lived up to Yao's expectations and achieved many of Yao's hoped-for goals, including controlling the flood. After Shun ascended the throne, Gun was executed for dereliction of duty, and his son Yu was appointed to take charge of flood control. Yu learned a lesson from his father and adopted the method of dredging rather than blocking. He worked hard with people and didn't take time to visit his family for 13 years.
