How do novices make mahogany bead bracelets?
Step 1 Select materials
Select a small piece of mahogany and draw a line according to the expected bead diameter. 1.8cm beads, painted into a square of 2×2cm, because there are losses in subsequent production and polishing, so there should be surplus.
Find the saw
I recommend the newcomer to buy a Japanese-made saw like this. Because of the traditional China saw, it is necessary to cut off the teeth.
flatten
File the wood flat with a wooden file.
Prepare to make a hole.
After straightening the wood block, drill the hole diagonally. This side of the hole should be selected on the cross section of the wood, that is, the side where the annual rings can be seen.
Prepare to make a hole. Make sure the tools enter from the center here and come out from the center there. Professional can have a punch or bench drill. If you don't have a bench drill, you can also make your own bench drill frame, and you can find tutorials online. I used a 1.5mm drill bit.
Step 5: Grinding the cone.
This step requires a key tool. Some people failed, but they just didn't choose the right tools. I recommend this kind of Allen wrench. For drilling holes of 1.5mm, a 2mm wrench must be selected. Keep this part of the straight rod and file one end into a slow cone with a metalworking file. Its length is such that the wrench can be inserted into the bead and the other end can be seen, but it is short 1-2mm. Grinding this cone is also very simple. Put it on an electric mill or electric drill, start it, and use a metalworking file to go to the car.
Flap one's eyes
When the tool is finished, insert it into the wood block. Knock hard with a hammer, but don't crack the wood. You can also twist it by hand to ensure that the back will not come loose after turning.
turning machine
Homemade lathes are nothing new, just horizontal electric mills or electric drills. I'll clamp the electric mill directly on the vice. If there is no electric mill, I can use an electric drill. Put the wood block on the electric mill (drill) with a hexagon wrench, and it will be a lathe when it runs.
Automobile circle
Try to turn the cube into a perfect circle. The better this process is done, the simpler and more successful the subsequent rounding process will be. I tried several methods in this process, and finally recommended a file. This method is most suitable for newcomers, easy to master and convenient.
Step 9: Double-axis beading
There are three points to note. The success rate of this step is 100%: First, the tool for polishing with the hexagon wrench mentioned above is the key, and many people fail to slip during polishing; Second, try to turn the wooden block in the previous step into a perfect circle, so that the grinding behind it will not jump; Third, the choice of the hole opener is very important. The universal glass hole opener is completely useless to me. I want to find someone with a good reputation. When choosing a hole opener, the diameter of its inner hole should be selected, and generally the outer diameter will be marked when selling.
It takes several minutes to grind the ball with a hole opener, and two electric drills are needed. If you don't have a second electric drill-I did a polishing experiment with the hole opener in my hand, so can you. When hand grinding, try to turn the hole opener to ensure uniformity.
Remove the beads from the wrench, insert them back in the opposite direction and grind them. In order to ensure that the holes at both ends are also well ground, then round the beads. As mentioned earlier, the wrench should not be able to penetrate the whole bead. If it penetrates, both ends of the wrench will be exposed, so that the wrench will collide with the hole opener and be easy to fail.
Step 10 stupa
The thick beads are ready, and a stupa needs to be made. Saw a cuboid about the size of the stupa, and put the perforated wood block on the electric mill without turning tool and chisel.
Step 1 1 grinding
It takes longer to polish a bead than to make one. Put the rough blank on the electric mill, turn it around and polish it with sandpaper from low to high. Remember to wear a mask. If your electric mill is made in safe voltage, you can also use sandpaper dipped in water to polish it, which is cleaner. Usually, it is good to grind the beads to 1200 mesh, leaving the player to complete the process of disk.
Step 12 completed.
All that's left is knotting and stringing, and a bracelet is finished.
