Characteristics of Chaozhou Music
Chaozhou music, referred to as Chaozhou music for short, is one of the national intangible cultural heritages, which mainly spreads in Chaoshan area of Guangdong Province.
Chaozhou music is famous at home and abroad for its flexible and changeable performance forms. Known as "the legacy of Tang and Song Dynasties" and "the voice of China", it is a treasure in China folk music.
Chaozhou music can be roughly divided into gongs and drums, string poems, fine music, temple fair music and Waijiang music. Among them, gongs and drums belong to folk music, including Chaozhou big gongs and drums, Chaozhou small gongs and drums and Chaozhou Su gongs and drums. String music, fine music, temple fair music and Waijiang music belong to chamber music. There are about 20 kinds of instruments commonly used in Chaozhou music, among which Erxian, Suona and Deep Wave are the most local features. .

Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, foreign (provincial) operas have poured in, and commercial performances are very frequent, which has injected new blood into Chaozhou opera. 1843, Chaozhou music went south to Singapore with the influx of population. In the early 1950s, Shantou Chaole Improvement Association and Chaozhou Folk Music Troupe were established.
In 2002, China Conservatory of Music introduced Chaozhou music into their classrooms, and designated 2002 as Chaozhou Music Year of China Conservatory of Music, so that students could learn this kind of music in this year? .
