Korean Drinking Etiquette

When drinking, the Koreans pay close attention to etiquette. At the banquet, according to the identity, status and seniority in order to pour wine, the high first to raise the cup, others follow in turn. Those who are too different in rank and seniority are not allowed to drink at the same table***. In special circumstances, juniors and subordinates can back face and drink.

Traditionally, it is considered impolite to hold a glass or drink with the left hand, as the right hand is superior to the left.

It is permitted for a junior to make a toast to a senior. The toaster carries the bottle in his right hand, holds the bottom of the bottle in his left hand, bows forward, gives a speech, and pours wine for his superiors and seniors, three glasses in a row, and the toaster does not drink himself. It should be noted that the status of different people drinking together when clinking glasses, the identity of the low to raise the cup low, with the rim of the cup to touch each other's cup, can not be flat touch, and can not be lifted higher than the other side, otherwise it is disrespectful.
