Introduction to Origami
A piece of white paper, after cutting and folding, becomes a living work of art.
Offsetting is the artistic activity of folding paper into different shapes. Origami requires only a small amount of folding to create complex and elaborate designs. Typically, origami designs are made by folding square pieces of paper, sometimes with different colors, while paper cutting is usually not required. In most origami competitions, participants are asked to fold their creations from a full square of undamaged paper.
Origami originated in China and was developed in Japan. The Japanese tradition of origami dates back to the Edo period (1603-1867). Europe also had its own origami art, and in the 19th century, Westerners began to combine origami with the natural sciences. Origami not only became a teaching tool in architectural schools, but also developed into a branch of modern geometry.
