[ yuè xià lǎo rén ]
Explanation: Originally, it refers to the deity in charge of marriage. Later, it refers to a matchmaker. The abbreviation is "Yue Lao".
From: Tang Dynasty's Wei Gu passed through Songcheng, and met an old man flipping through a book under the moonlight. After inquiring, he realized that the old man was a god in charge of marriages on earth, and the book he was inspecting was a marriage book.
Origin
Tang Li Fuyan (唐-李复言) recorded in "续幽怪錄-定婚店", that when Wei Gu was young, he passed by Songcheng; he saw an old man leaning on his bag and flipping through a book under the moonlight. Wei Gu asked what book he was reading; he said it was the marriage book of the world, and said that there was a "red rope" in the bag, which was secretly tied to the feet of the man and the woman to make them become husband and wife. The Philosophy of Old Zhang, 28: "Old Long refused to write a marriage book! He also has his reasons; they believe in not making offerings to the gods; the same as not making offerings to the Zi Sun Maiden; Santa Claus under the Moon!"
