What is a boy?

A boy is a minor. In martial arts novels, men who have no sexual experience at all are also called "boys". In ancient times, it also refers to one of the subjects of the old imperial examination.

In the Han Dynasty, Chaju set up the Scout Military Department, stipulating that children were between 12 and 16 years old, and those who could learn classics could be selected. Those who try classics are worshipped as lang, and those who are young and talented are worshipped as boy lang. Teahouse boy is a way to reward gifted children, which shows that China noticed the exceptional use and special training of gifted children as early as the Han Dynasty, which is amazing and admirable.

I believe many people have heard of "boy", but they all have some narrow and superstitious cognition. For young men, we should distinguish the different meanings of this title. According to the general definition, a boy is a minor, specifically a minor boy. Now there are so-called "girls" in society, which is simply nonsense. In the traditional view, Xiaohua is a replica of a boy.

Different meaning

Zheng Xuan, a great scholar in the Eastern Han Dynasty, said in Notes to the Book of Rites that "one child and one slave belong to one temple", which can be directly understood as "an ancient servant". The meaning of the word "lad" in immortal culture is to borrow the meaning of "ancient underage servant" and refer to the servants around the immortal.

According to religion, boys don't necessarily refer to underage men. For example, the "rich boy" around the famous Guanyin Bodhisattva is an elder himself. It is said that as soon as he was born, many rare treasures naturally appeared at home, so he was named "Fuyun". According to the Buddhist classic "Hua Yan Jing", good karma is one of the 500 old boys cities where Manjusri Bodhisattva once lived.
