When is Father's Day in China?

The most orthodox Father's Day in China is the eighth day of the eighth lunar month.

There are three reasons for this:

The homonym of August 8 is "Baba", just like dad;

Second, the word "August 8" on the eighth day of August just constitutes the word "father" in China Chinese characters;

It symbolizes good luck, kindness, tolerance, justice and so on. The lunar calendar is used because "food is the sky for the people and agriculture is the foundation of the country", and Arabic numerals are not used to write the date of the lunar calendar.

Father's Day, that is, Father's Day, falls on August 8 of the Gregorian calendar every year, which was decided before the new China, and is also called "August 8". Moreover, the word "eight-eight" overlaps and becomes the word "father" after deformation, which is simple and easy to remember.

There is a huge historical background behind the establishment of this Father's Day: on August 8, 34 (1August 8, 945), the dawn of victory in the Anti-Japanese War has quietly arrived, and people with lofty ideals in Shanghai specially put forward the idea of Father's Day to commemorate their father who died in the war.

So Shanghai College of Literati launched an activity to celebrate Father's Day, and the citizens responded immediately. It is very necessary and meaningful to hold a warm celebration.

After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, celebrities and gentlemen from all walks of life in Shanghai jointly requested the Shanghai Municipal Government to transmit it to the central government, and designated August 8 as Father's Day. At that time, the central government attached great importance to this requirement, held a special meeting to discuss it, and finally passed it. August 8th every year is Father's Day in China. In this way, August 8 was designated by the then central government as the exclusive festival for dads.
