Surgical types of inguinal hernia repair

1, Ferguson method: reinforce the anterior wall of inguinal canal. It is suitable for children and adolescents with no obvious defect of transverse aponeurosis arch and sound posterior wall of inguinal canal.

2.Bassini method: reinforce the posterior wall of inguinal canal. Suitable for adults with indirect inguinal hernia, direct hernia and abdominal wall weakness.

3.Mcvay method: reinforce the posterior wall of inguinal canal. It is suitable for adults, the elderly and those with recurrent indirect hernia and direct hernia with severe abdominal muscle weakness.

4. halsted method: Reinforce the posterior wall of inguinal canal. It is suitable for indirect hernia with severe abdominal muscle weakness, but its development may be affected by high displacement of spermatic cord, and it is not suitable for children and young patients.

5.Shouldice method: the repair focus is on the level of transverse abdominal fascia. It has been widely used since 1970s, and it is suitable for adults with huge indirect inguinal hernia and direct inguinal hernia.
