Heyuan Hakka culture

The Hakkas in Heyuan, like the Hakkas in other areas, have national advantages and cultural characteristics, but they also have unique folk customs and cultures, which are colorful.

(1) Unique residential building. Residential buildings are all residential groups built by clans and families, mostly Hakka houses such as dragon houses, quadrangles, quadrangles and diaojiao buildings. Among them, the Longwei in Heyuan area is mainly half-moon, the four-corner building is mainly turret, the quadrangle is mainly patio lighting, and the diaojiao building is mainly Zouma building. Except that the diaojiao building belongs to a cottage and has obvious architectural characteristics of the mountain people, the interior design of the quadrangle and the quadrangle building is similar to that of the Half Moon Dragon House.

(2) Delicious and unique Hakka diet. In the long historical process, Heyuan people have been inheriting the excellent traditional virtues and humanistic spirit of Hakka people. The folk song culture in Meizhou, Guangdong is unique, while the Hakka dishes in Dongjiang, Heyuan are more distinctive. Heyuan's cooking skills and dishes are unique, such as "Meizhou Hakka fermented bean curd", "Meizhou salted baked chicken", "Hakka fermented bean curd" and "Hakka dish rolls", which are well-known overseas, all created by Hakka people. Braised pork, meatballs, stewed mushrooms, fried duck and whole pig soup are also famous Hakka dishes in Heyuan.

(3) Rich and colorful Hakka customs and culture. Heyuan people are good at singing and dancing and have the habit of reciting poems correctly. Hakka folk arts mainly include: Hakka folk songs, Hua Chaoxi, dragon dance, lion dance, spring bull dance, paper horse dance, kung fu, acrobatics and so on. There are Hakka song and dance troupes in every county of Heyuan. Hakka Hua Chaoxi in Zijin County is listed as "China's Intangible Cultural Heritage", and Zhongxin Hakka Lantern in Lianping County is rated as "Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage". Longchuan Acrobatic Troupe is the first county-level acrobatic troupe in China, and peace county Tea Picking Troupe has the rhyme of combining China's drama and tea picking drama.

(4) There are a large number of Hakkas in Heyuan who attach importance to literature and education. In ancient times, there were many scholars here. In the Qing dynasty, there was a family called Jane, with three generations and four cymbals, five departments, ten provinces and eight flowers. It is the hometown of Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of China revolution, Feng Yunshan and Shi Dakai, the famous leaders of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Ruan Xiaoxian, the founder of China revolutionary audit, Liu Ersong, the leader of China youth movement and workers' movement, and Liu,, and China literary critic.
