Brief introduction of Kashgar residential buildings in Gao Tai
It means pottery on a high cliff; Located in the old city of Kashgar, this high cliff, which is hundreds of meters long, has existed for more than two thousand years in history. According to legend, Ban Chao and Geng Gong, famous soldiers of the Eastern Han Dynasty, left footprints here. In the middle of the 9th century, during the Kashgar dynasty, the palace was built on the north side of this high cliff. The north and south of the high cliff were originally connected and divided into two ends. Mohammad Asimu, a 94-year-old pottery artist who lives in Gao Tai residence, tells the story of how a high cliff is divided into two unconnected south cliffs and north cliffs. It is said that hundreds of years ago, a sudden flash flood from the Pamirs opened a big gap in the high cliff area. From then on, it was cut off from north to south and divided into two independent high slopes. Now Gao Tai's houses are built on the south slope.
