How to remove a catheter

The catheter can't be pulled out because there is a balloon inside the bladder to hold it in place and prevent the catheter from coming out. It can damage the urethra if it is pulled out hard! How do you remove it at home? It is very simple: cut the catheter 5cm from the urethra and wait for 2 minutes before removing it. The reason for waiting 2 minutes is to let the water out of the balloon so that nothing gets stuck in the urethra.

In the hospital, the catheter is removed with a 10-milliliter syringe in the following way: remove the needle, connect the catheter to one of the Y-shaped ports (one of the bifurcations has already been connected to the urine bag, and we are going to connect it to the other bifurcation), and then draw off the water in the balloon, which is about 10 milliliters. Then you can just pull out the urinary catheter.

In any case the operation should be sterilized well, to not get infected. I hope my answer is helpful to you
