Information and pictures of Longmen Grottoes
Longmen Grottoes, one of the three famous treasure houses of stone carving art in China, is located on the banks of the Yi River, 65,438+02km south of Luoyang. After more than 400 years of excavation from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty, there are still more than 2 100 grottoes, 100 statues and more than 3,600 inscriptions, of which the largest number is located in the largest stone grottoes in China. Among them, "Longmen 20" is the essence of Weibei calligraphy, and "Yi Que Buddhist Shrine Monument" written by Chu Suiliang, a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, is a model of regular script art in the early Tang Dynasty.
The most representative Longmen Grottoes are Guyang Cave, Binyang Cave, Lianhua Cave and Fangyao Cave built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and Qianxi Temple, Kanjing Temple, Wanfo Cave, Fengxian Temple and Dawanwu Buddha Cave built in the Tang Dynasty. The largest Buddha statue, Lushena Buddha, is17.438+04m high.
