In order to promote MRP and MRP II, the famous APICS American Production and Inventory Management Association mentioned in the explanation of the word ERP that the difference between an ERP system and a typical MRP II system lies in technical requirements, such as graphical user interface (GUI), relational database, integration of internal and external users with customers and suppliers, and generation of various reports as required.
The concept of ERP was put forward by -Gartner Group, a famous industrial science and technology research unit, in the early 1990s, based on the development of information technology and supply chain management to infer the development trend of manufacturing management information system. To put it simply, ERP is "a large-scale modular, integrated and process-oriented system, which integrates the information flow of financial accounting, manufacturing and inventory within the enterprise, provides decision-making information quickly, and improves the operational performance and quick response ability of the enterprise." It is the core and pillar of electronic enterprise background, and any foreground application system, including e-commerce, customer relationship management and supply chain management, is based on it.
