How did the old film camera develop the photos?

There are two steps to developing photos with a film camera. Here is the manual expansion and enlargement.

One is developing the negative film, and the process is: shooting-generating the latent image of the negative film-putting it into a special developing tank-developing-stopping developing-washing-fixing-washing-drying. The negative is complete.

The second is photo development, which is similar to negative film. The working procedure is: enlargement (or printing)-development-water washing-fixing-water washing-drying (polishing).

In fact, digital printing is a method, and this can't be called printing photos. There is also printing, and now digital printing shops use colored paper to print photos.
