What were barbers called in ancient times

A barber is a profession that is responsible for cutting hair. A barber is different from a hairstylist in that a barber usually only performs simple hair trimming or shaving, whereas a hairstylist provides hairstyling and beautification, including perming and coloring. In ancient China, barbers were known by a variety of names, including shavers, tai chao, hair grating masters, head shavers, and cosmetic surgeons. The term "hairdressing" first appeared in the Han Dynasty, and was mentioned in the Western Han Dynasty in the book "Huainan Wanbi Jiu" by Liu An: "Hairdressing in front of the stove, the woman is at peace with her husband's family".
