What are the types and differences of driving motors for new energy vehicles?

There are three kinds of driving motors for Pacific car networking: centralized, wheel-edge and wheel-hub. At present, it is all permanent magnet synchronous motor technology, the only difference is that the motor is installed in different positions of the vehicle.

1. Centralized drive motor: The centralized drive motor is most similar to the traditional axle. When driving the wheels, you must pass through transitional parts, such as reducer and transmission shaft. At present, most low-speed electric vehicles basically have this structure, mainly because this structure is the simplest and cheapest. Another problem with these low-speed electric vehicles is that the transmission is generally omitted. This brings a problem, that is, the low torque is insufficient when starting or climbing; Then there are the disadvantages of large volume and low transmission efficiency.

Therefore, many models simply use dual-drive motors to make up for the lack of power, which is also the reason why the proportion of new energy vehicles with four-wheel drive is much higher than that of traditional vehicles, and it also explains why many of the first models built on the Internet are SUVs.

At present, the mainstream of the market is centralized drive motor+traditional axle. Because of its structural characteristics, the traditional axle can be matched with a little modification, so it can reduce the research and development.

2. Wheel-side drive motors: The wheel-side structure needs at least two drive motors, and of course there may be more. The two driving motors are installed on both sides of the axle, and the single wheel is driven by reducing speed and increasing torque through the side reducer and the wheel side reducer. Wheel motors may or may not require a drive shaft, which is different from centralized drive motors.

But relatively concentrated, the rim type is of great significance to the chassis layout of the whole vehicle, especially in the case of rear axle drive. Because the power of the front transmission is transmitted to the rear wheel through a long transmission shaft, the deformation movement between the car body and the wheel has a great influence, but the wheel rim drive motor can be directly installed on the wheel rim, so there is no need to consider too many factors such as torsional deformation, so the chassis can be made flat and the car body can be more changeable.

3. Hub-type drive motor: Simply put, the hub motor is to put everything such as the drive motor and reducer in the hub and directly drive the wheels in the hub. In fact, this is the most common driving form at present, and basically all the rear driving wheels of battery cars are of this structure. Its biggest advantage is compact structure, which saves the differential, half shaft and transmission device. At the same time, the mechanical loss of these structures is reduced and the transmission efficiency is correspondingly improved.
