What are the technical characteristics of Tianshui Qi Diao?
At first, there was only one carving and filling technique in Tianshui Qi Diao craft. Carving and filling means painting with powder on the unpainted ground, then carving with a knife, removing the gray skin to expose the painted ground, and then filling it with colored paint. After drying in the shade, it is made by grinding and fading. The surface is smooth as a mirror, and the colored paint can be embedded in the ground for a long time without falling off. Later, carving and filling developed into the most representative process of Tianshui lacquer carving.
The so-called "precious materials" means that Tianshui carved lacquer products are all made of precious natural materials.
Generally, high-quality wood such as pine and basswood is used as the tire, high-quality natural lacquer rich in local Xiaolongshan is used as the raw material, and Fujian Shoushan stone, Zhejiang Qingtian stone, Xiaoshan red stone, Shandong green frozen stone, Beijing Huangshi, Taihu mussel skin, coral, agate, pearl, ivory, jade and shell are used as decorative materials, which are often decorated with gold and silver.
