Briefly describe the characteristics of traditional gardens in China.

A. According to the geographical location of gardens, China classical gardens are divided into northern, Jiangnan and Lingnan types.

B. The northern gardens, also known as the Yellow River Gardens, are large in scope, mostly located in ancient capitals, with magnificent buildings. Due to natural conditions, there are few rivers, lakes, garden stones and evergreen trees, and their styles are rough and beautiful. Most of them are concentrated in Beijing, Chengde, Xi, Luoyang and Kaifeng.

C. Jiangnan Garden is also called Jiangnan Garden or Yangtze Garden, with elegant and simple architecture. There are many rivers and lakes, evergreen gardens and exquisite landscape, but the scope is small and slightly cramped. Most of them are concentrated in Suzhou, Yangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Shanghai, Nanjing and other places.

D. Lingnan Garden, located in the subtropical zone, has evergreen seasons and many rivers, and its gardening conditions are superior to those in the north and south of the great river. It not only has the stability, grandeur and magnificence of northern gardens, but also integrates the elegance and chic of Jiangnan gardens, and absorbs foreign gardening techniques, forming a light, transparent and lively style, which is mostly concentrated in Shunde, Dongguan and Panyu, Guangdong.
