Formula information of tin plating technology

Several common defects and flaws of ancient bronze mirrors in China, and some remedial measures of the ancients. In this defect, the porosity is determined by the nature of the metal itself, which is inevitable; It can neither be eliminated nor reduced, but can only be moved; A slight negligence, a grinding. Although it is as thin as a needle tip, it is dense and dark. Scraping trajectory should be eliminated, but due to the poor scraping conditions in ancient times, it is inevitable and cannot be eliminated. From the investigation of traditional technology, some small factories have used modern mechanical processing methods, and processing lines are still often seen; This is especially true in ancient times. Therefore, loose tissue and scratches are actually found in all mirrors, and mirrors produced normally are no exception. Bubbles, sand holes, gas residue marks and inclusions should also be avoidable, but it is difficult to completely eliminate them due to the influence of many complicated technological factors. Inclusion and gas residue are often seen on the surface of ancient mirrors. In order to eliminate or reduce the influence of these defects on the reflective effect of bronze mirrors, many remedial measures have been taken. Finishing some of the above defects and flaws is only the first step, and then tin plating is needed. The tissue is loose, the contents are fine, and the gas is slight. Generally, the first step of dressing is not done.

We have observed and analyzed many samples with bubbles, sand holes and cracks. The results show that the surface color is basically the same as other parts of the same mirror. Its surface composition is basically the same as that of the same mirror or different mirrors of the same color. For example, E30, a semi-circular square animal mirror in Ezhou, was sampled and analyzed in many places near the fracture surface of the sample, and the components in one place were: copper 7.7 13%, tin 5 1.857%, lead 12.5 13%, and iron 5.57/kloc-. The other component is: copper 12.906, tin 6 1. 164%, lead1.423%, iron 6. 149% and silicon 4.954. These two components are basically the same, and belong to the same composition range as the surface of ordinary blue lacquer ancient mirrors. The embedded replica animal mirror E 14 in Ezhou has basically the same surface composition whether it is patched or not. Its front components are: copper 13.39%, tin 69.98%, lead 6.284%, iron 0.603%, silicon 5.68 1%, aluminum 2.52 1% and silver 1.536%. This shows that the surface treatment process of defects is basically the same as the normal part of copper mirror, and tin plating is realized by coating with tin amalgam powder. Once plated, all the flaws, defects and rough surfaces will be covered with pure white tin coating, and the whole mirror surface will be smooth as one. "Huai Nan Zi Xiu Wu Xun" says: "The shape of the mirror is unknown, its powder is black and white, and its eyebrows are slightly visible." Xuan is black, Xuan tin is black tin, that is, after mercury treatment, it is gray-black "tin", that is, tin amalgam. This passage is the most accurate and concise portrayal of the surface treatment technology of bronze mirror. For the mirror E3 and mirror E 14, the defect repair steps are as follows: (1) Fill the air holes and sand holes with soft alloy; (2) Tin plating and polishing. For E30, the repair process of the semi-circular square mirror of God beast should be: (1) cleaning the broken mirror and mirror surface. (2) Glue the broken mirror with adhesive, and stick a high-strength white paper on the broken part on one side of the mirror. (3) The whole mirror surface is evenly tinned. Finally, the second time.
