Why don't extended-range cars have mini cars?

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is a kind of vehicle that combines traditional fuel engine and electric drive system. It can automatically switch between using fuel or electric power to drive vehicles according to driving requirements.

Minicars usually refer to small cars, which are small in size and light in weight and suitable for short-distance city driving. However, at present, the PHEV on the market is usually modified based on medium and large cars, so there is no PHEV specially designed for mini-cars.

The reason for this is the following:

1. Minicars are smaller in size and weight, and usually have less room for power system. Installing the battery and other related equipment of the extended-range vehicle will take up more space, which may affect the internal space and load capacity of the mini-car.

2.PHEV technology is still in a relatively early stage of development. At present, most PHEV models are modified on the basis of traditional medium-sized and large-sized models, because it is easier for these models to provide enough space to install batteries and other necessary equipment. Choosing a mini-car as the basis of PHEV modification may require more technical and design adjustments, and the market demand may not be enough to support such investment.

It should be noted that although there are no PHEV models specially designed for mini-cars on the market at present, with the development of technology and the change of market demand, there may be more PHEV models for mini-cars in the future. This depends on the decisions of manufacturers and markets, as well as changes in the demand for new energy vehicles.
