1. Qu Yuan said

Qu Yuan was a minister of King Huai of Chu during the Spring and Autumn Period. He advocated the promotion of the virtuous and capable, rich country and strong army, and strongly advocated to unite Qi against Qin, which was strongly opposed by the aristocrat Zilan and others, Qu Yuan was gluttonous to go to his post, and was exiled to the Yuan and Xiang basin. Later, when the Qin army broke through the capital of Chu, Qu Yuan saw his motherland being invaded, and on May 5, after writing his final work "Huai Sha", he threw himself into the Miluo River and died, composing a magnificent piece of patriotism with his own life.

The people of Chu were saddened to learn of Qu Yuan's death, and in order to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan's body, they threw rice balls. Later people wrapped rice with neem leaves, wrapped in colored silk, developed into brown. And on the fifth day of May every year, dragon boat racing, eat zongzi, drink xionghuang wine, as a way to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan.

2, Wu Zixu said

Wu Zixu was a man of great talent and trust of King Helu of Wu. Fuchai rejected his proposal. Wu Zixu, a great ruler of the state of Wu, was bribed by the state of Yue to slander and frame Zixu, and Fu Chai believed him and gave Zixu a sword, which Zixu used to die. Zixu was a loyal man, and he was very happy to die. Before his death, Zixu said to his neighbors, "When I die, I will gouge out my eyes and hang them on the east gate of the capital of Wu, so that we can see the army of Yue enter the city and destroy Wu", and then he cut his own throat, and Fu Chai was so furious at the news that he had Zixu's body put into a leather bag and threw it into the river on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.

The people of Wu remembered Wu Zixu, the pillar of the country. For thousands of years, it has been rumored in Jiangsu and Zhejiang that Wu Zixu's loyal soul was transformed into a god of Tao after his death, and the Dragon Boat Festival is a day to commemorate Wu Zixu.

3, filial daughter Cao E said

Cao E is the Eastern Han Dynasty Shangyu people, his father drowned in the river, a few days to see the body, the filial daughter of Cao E was only fourteen years old, day and night along the river crying. After seventeen days, she threw herself into the river on May 5, and five days later, she carried out her father's body. The story was passed down as a myth, and the story was passed down to the governor of the county, who made Dushan erect a monument for it, and had his disciple Handan Chun write a eulogy in praise of it.

The tomb of Cao E, a filial daughter, is located in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, and the monument to Cao E is said to have been written by Wang Yi of the Jin Dynasty. In order to commemorate Cao E's filial piety, Cao E Temple was built where Cao E threw herself into the river, the village where she lived was renamed Cao E Town, and the place where Cao E died for her father was named Cao E River.
