Why is honesty a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation?

Throughout the ages, honesty has always been the basis of gaining the trust of others and the fundamental and moral requirement of being a man. This story tells that Shang Yang wanted to establish a new political reform after he became the prime minister of Qin Xiaogong.
