What is the development history of Guangxi Opera?
The earliest Guangxi Opera troupes were famous troupes such as Sanhe and Sanqing who sang various voices in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty, followed by classes such as Ruihua, LaoRenhe, Shangsheng, Kabin and Jinhua.
Since 1882, Guangxi opera classes such as Bao Hua Qun Ying, Cui Hua and Lan Bin Xiao She have appeared all over Guilin. Since then, Gui Opera and Qi Opera have gradually separated, but artists of Gui Opera and Qi Opera sometimes perform in shifts and hire teachers to teach each other skills.
The creation of Guangxi opera scripts can be traced back to 1896. Tang Tongzhi, a scholar in Qing Dynasty, created 40 "Watching Chess Pavilion" for Guilin Spring Class, which became the first unique repertoire of Guangxi Opera.
