What is the difference between the screen resolutions of 1920× 1080 and 2340× 1080?

The resolution of mobile phone screen is 1920× 1080, which is the ratio of 16:9 that was common in the past. Before 20 17, most mid-to high-end mobile phones had this resolution. At the end of 20 17, "full screen" mobile phones became popular, and the screen length was slightly lengthened, and the ratio became 18:9 or even 19.5:9, of which 2340× 1080 was 19:5:9 common.

Specifically, the main difference between the 1920× 1080 screen and the 2340× 1080 screen is that the latter screen is slightly longer, and the 2340× 1080 screen can display more content when reading web pages and characters. In some games that adapt to the resolution of 2340× 1080, the visual field will be wider than that of 1920× 1080, and the visual effect will be better.

However, because the screen of 2340× 1080 is only a little longer than that of 1920× 1080, the pixel per inch (PPI) of the screen has not increased, and the display effect of the screen has not been significantly improved. In addition to smart phones, computer monitors, televisions and other common display devices are still using the screen ratio of 16:9, that is, the resolution of 1920× 1080. Therefore, when some TV series are played on the mobile phone with the resolution of 2340× 1080, there will be obvious black edges on the left and right sides, which is caused by the inconsistency between the video ratio and the screen ratio of the mobile phone. However, these 16:9 videos can perfectly cover the full screen when displayed on the traditional 1920× 1080 resolution mobile phone. But relatively speaking, if it is some movies with a ratio of 2 1:9, the display effect will be better on the mobile phone with a wide screen ratio.

Although the resolution of 2340× 1080 is not suitable for playing traditional TV series videos, this screen has still become the mainstream of smart phones. Because the screen size of smart phone is calculated diagonally, when the screen is elongated, the screen size of 2340× 1080 is larger, but the width does not increase. Coupled with the development of borderless full-screen technology, the size of the current 6.4-inch 19.5:9 mobile phone is similar to that of the previous 5.5-inch 16:9 mobile phone, but the visual range of the screen has increased a lot. Therefore, the resolution of new mobile phones is basically 2340× 1080, and the traditional 1920× 1080 mobile phones are rare.
