Handout on "Performing Duties and Abiding by Discipline"

Today, I will study and discuss with you on the issue of "doing your duty, strictly observing discipline and making more contributions to army building". Doing one's duty and observing discipline are realistic problems that every cadre in party member must seriously consider, treat and answer in practical work. This is not only conducive to the healthy growth of cadres in party member, but also of great significance for doing all the current work well, achieving "two guarantees" with high standards and high quality, and promoting the scientific and safe development of army building. Below, I will talk about my superficial views from three aspects.

Let's talk about why we should do our duty and discipline first.

The so-called responsibility is the position and responsibility, that is, what should be done; The so-called discipline is the rule that people obey orders, carry out orders and perform their duties. Obeying orders and commands is a soldier's bounden duty. Therefore, we must always have a sense of political responsibility of treading on thin ice. We must demand and motivate ourselves with the principles of loyalty, dedication and practice, and strive to improve ourselves, improve ourselves and sublimate ourselves, so as to show the political character of a party member by obeying orders and commands.

(1) Doing one's duty and observing discipline is a concrete manifestation of our army's fine tradition. As an armed group carrying out the party's political tasks, our army has a distinctive sign different from other armies, that is, "obeying the party's command, serving the people and being brave and good at fighting." As the eternal soul of our army, "obeying the party's command" clearly requires that we must take the party's banner as the banner, the party's will as the will, and the party's direction as the direction. Party member consciously formed a stormtrooper to the most dangerous place. When he was hungry, he ate bread. When he was thirsty, he drank water from the kettle. When he was tired, he took a nap on the muddy dam. So he fought on the dam for three days and three nights. Last year, we were responsible for guarding the fire scene of "1 1.5" Jilin commercial building. In the snowstorm, we stuck to our posts and did our duty. Some veterans remained on the front line the day before demobilization. There is only one best reason to explain all this, because we are soldiers.

Second, tell me what your duty is and how to do it.

Post and occupation are not only the basic means for a person to make a living, but also the basic platform for serving the people, contributing to society and realizing value. As for what duties to perform, I think the most important duty of soldiers is to obey orders and commands and resolutely complete tasks under any circumstances and conditions. So, how can we do our duty well?

One is based on selfless dedication. Someone once said: If a nation, a country and a person only talk about personal interests, but don't talk about national interests and social contributions, then such a nation and country will have no hope, and no one will not decline, let alone stand on its own feet among the nations of the world. This statement is very meaningful. China's land border is more than 22,000 kilometers long, and the natural climate conditions in most border areas are very difficult. However, even so, countless border guards patrol the border of the motherland all the time, guarding the peace of the motherland and the people with their youth and even their lives. As an army cadre in party member, we should focus on our career, be indifferent to fame and fortune, have a spiritual realm of "loyalty to your art, you don't know your age, and let fame and fortune be like floating clouds", learn to restrain our desires with party spirit, and truly stand out at ordinary times and critical moments, setting a good example for the officers and men of the army. I often think, what should a person pursue in his life? Is it the pursuit of economic prosperity, comfort in life, dignity in status and fame? Pursuing personal pleasure of eating all day long and not doing it? Or pursue the lofty realm of endless life and struggle? As a real party member, the latter is his best choice!

Second, it is important to dare to sacrifice. "Grape wine luminous cup, want to drink pipa immediately rush. Lying on the beach drunk, you don't laugh. How many people fought in ancient times? " This poem may be familiar to all of us. It reflects the calmness of soldiers facing life and death. In Chinese excellent traditional culture, Confucius said "benevolence", Mencius said "righteousness", and "giving up one's life for righteousness" became the values universally observed by the Chinese nation. From Wen Tianxiang, who has never died since ancient times, to Tan Sitong, who laughs at heaven with a horizontal knife, leaving two Kunlun mountains in my liver and gallbladder; From Lei Feng, who is willing to be a "screw" that never embroiders, to a hero who fought floods in the flood of the 1990s; They all reflect this lofty pursuit of courage to sacrifice and selfless dedication. In the process of carrying out rescue and disaster relief tasks, salvaging chemical raw material barrels, salvaging gold mining boats, cleaning up silt and other tasks, some of our soldiers had blisters on their feet and hands, but none of them complained and were not tired. According to the official, their tenacious fighting spirit and the spirit of daring to sacrifice have accomplished one arduous task after another. This is the epitome of our "post-80 s soldiers" who have no hesitation and dare to sacrifice when the party and the people need it. On the major issues of safeguarding national interests and national integrity, even life seems so precious. What can we not give up?

Third, put obscurity in the first place. A propaganda that CCTV had done before the news broadcast was very good: "A person who gave his life opened the door to progress; A dedicated person, warm and enthusiastic; A man with a conscience, his spirit will last forever. Millions of people who gave their lives changed the times; Qian Qian's dedicated people turned the tide; Hundreds of millions of people with conscience create the future; Everyone is dedicated and dedicated, and the motherland is prosperous. " I think this public service advertisement is very suitable for the special collective of the army and the special occupation of the soldiers. In the car squadron, when it comes to mechanic Wei Lixin, everyone will be familiar with it. Over the years, he has quietly dedicated himself to ordinary posts, studied his own work, bought relevant technical books at his own expense for nearly 1,000 yuan, wrote his own experience, and trained a group of new maintenance technicians with his years of maintenance experience. His mantra is, "I will leave the team one day, and I must leave my skills in our army forever." What is the value of a soldier? "Where is the value of soldiers? Make contributions and have no regrets! " They have no amazing feats and lofty sentiments, but they always interpret their loyalty to the party and their love for their posts with actions.

Third, talk about what discipline to observe and how to observe it.

The word discipline existed as early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Zuozhuan? In the second year of Huan Gong, it was recorded: "A hundred officials are afraid of it and dare not change their discipline. "Ancient and modern Chinese and foreign military strategists have one thing in common, that is, strict discipline. There is a saying in ancient China called "learning from the law". I think, as a soldier, how to talk about party spirit and regard discipline as more important than life is the strongest party spirit; How to emphasize character and maintain the sanctity of discipline is the best character; How to lead by example and observe discipline with practical actions is the best example.

(A) depending on discipline over life is the strongest party spirit. Jin Yinan, a professor at National Defense University, said in one of his articles, "People should have a little spirit, and the most precious spirit of soldiers is the spirit of victory. Just for victory, not for victory, such soldiers are priceless to the country and the nation. " This is a very good statement. Further thinking, what has cultivated this victorious spirit of soldiers? In my opinion, the only answer is iron discipline.
