Part 1: The Song of Chu on All Sides

Xiang Yu and Liu Bang originally agreed to use the east and west sides of the Honggou (in the present-day Jialu River in the territory of Rong County, Henan Province) as the boundary, and not to encroach on each other.

Later, Liu Bang listened to the advice of Zhang Liang and Chen Ping, and felt that he should take advantage of Xiang Yu's weakness to destroy him, so he joined forces with Han Xin, Peng Yue, and Liu Jia to pursue Xiang Yu's forces, which were heading east towards Pengcheng (present-day Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province).

Finally, they arranged several layers of troops and surrounded Xiang Yu in Gaixia (southeast of Lingbi County, Anhui Province).

By this time, Xiang Yu had very few soldiers under his command and was out of food.

At night, he heard the troops surrounding him on all sides singing the folk songs of Chu, and couldn't help but be very surprised, saying: "Has Liu Bang already got the forbidden land? Why are there so many Chus inside his troops?" Saying that, he had lost his fighting spirit in his heart, so he got up from his bed, drank wine inside his tent, and sang with his favorite concubine Yu Ji.

After the song, straight tears, in the side of the people are also very sad, all feel unable to lift up their heads.

Yu Ji cut her own throat in front of Xiang Yu's horse, and Xiang Yu, at the end of his days, took his remaining soldiers to the Wujiang River, where he eventually cut his own throat.

Part II: The Story of Dayu's Water Remedy

Legend has it that during the time of Emperor Yao, floods often occurred in the Yellow River basin.

In order to stop the flooding and protect the agricultural production, Emperor Yao called a meeting with the tribal leaders and asked them to solve the water problem.

Jiu Ji is recommended to be responsible for this work.

Jiu Ji replied, "Father is son, father is son."

Jiu Ji is son, father is son, and father is son, and father is son.

After Shun Emperor succeeded to the throne, Jiu Ji replied, "Father is son, Father is son".

Yu summarizes his father's experience in water management, Jiu Ji replaces Jiu Ji with Jiu Ji's method, which is to make use of the natural tendency of the water to flow from high to low, and to clear the congested river along with the terrain.

The floodwaters were introduced into the dredged rivers, depressions, or lakes, which were then connected to the four seas, thus quelling the floods and allowing the people to move from the highlands back to the plains and engage in agriculture.
