Changming Tower, also known as Tazai, is located on the north side of the Second Primary School in Leicheng Street, Leizhou City, Zhanjiang City. County-level cultural relics protection units.
Changming Tower was built in the 9th year of Qing Qianlong (1744). It was founded by Wu, the magistrate of Leizhou and the magistrate of a county in Qing Dynasty, with the aim of prospering civilization, adapting measures to local conditions and cultivating Toshihiko.
Changming Tower is octagonal and seven-level, with a pavilion-style brick-wood structure, and the tower height is17m (the tower height recorded in Haikang County Records and Memorabilia in 2005 is16.7m). Changming Tower covers an area of 450 square meters. The tower foundation is built with a fence made of bluestone, and the stone slab of the fence is engraved with flowers, insects, birds and birds with profound meanings. The word "Changming Tower" is engraved on the forehead of the fake door on the first floor of Changming Tower. Now there are several unknown plants swaying in the wind at the doorway on the second floor of the tower, and the tower is covered with moss. The main entrance of the tower faces south and the climbing door faces west. There are eight pseudo-arched shutter doors on each floor, which are closed every four doors. The tower body is made of bricks stacked, and there is a deep well at the bottom of the tower. The height of the tower is gradually reduced, and the eaves of the tower are alternately combined with reddish brown, green belt and white teeth. There is no railing protection, and there is no climbing up the steps at the top of the tower.
Changming Building is another famous building in Leicheng after Sanyuan Building in Ming Dynasty. It is the symbol of the former Haikang county governance, which is of great value to the study of Leizhou's human history and ancient buildings.
