What is the difference between all-optical networking and traditional networking?
The traditional network architecture is generally divided into three layers, namely, access layer network, convergence layer network and core layer network, and access layer switch, convergence layer switch and core layer switch.
As for the all-optical network solution, OLT is located in the central computer room to gather OLT. It can be regarded as a convergence layer switch. An optical splitter (ODN) separates multiple optical fibers and connects them to an optical cat. Then, the light cat is connected to the terminal device. OLT is just a bridge between the core switch and ODN box. From the core layer to the optical cat, all are optical fiber transmission, saving a lot of space and equipment. There is no distance limit, which is more convenient and safer than the traditional network.
