<1> Liver depression and qi stagnation: hypochondriac swelling and pain, chest discomfort, overeating, nausea and anorexia, abdominal distension and fatigue, thin stool, pale red tongue with white fur and thready pulse.

Treatment: soothing liver and regulating qi, invigorating spleen and regulating stomach.

Prescription: Bupleurum chinense 12g, Paeonia lactiflora 12g, Fructus Aurantii 10g, Rhizoma Cyperi 10g, Polygonum cuspidatum 10g, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae 10g, Fructus Toosendan 10g.

(2) Internal resistance due to phlegm-dampness: dull pain in the right rib, abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, excessive phlegm and saliva, heavy head and fat tongue, white and greasy fur and thready pulse.

< 3 > Qi deficiency and blood stasis: stabbing pain under hypochondriac pain, abdominal distension, shortness of breath and fatigue, mental fatigue, limb fatigue and red blood nevus. The tongue is lavender, with ecchymosis at the edge and thin pulse.

Treatment: invigorating spleen and qi, soothing the liver and removing blood stasis.

Prescription: Fructus Aurantii Immaturus 10g, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae 15g, Radix Codonopsis 15g, Radix Astragali 15g, Poria 10g, Radix Bupleuri 12g, Rhizoma Sparganii 10g and Radix Paeoniae Rubra.
