Xiaowu Fenzhong Village Cultural Hall, Zhejiang

As the core carrier of rural cultural construction, the cultural hall carries the cultural labels and spiritual symbols of the village. However, the actual construction is often due to the time relationship, the lack of village cultural characteristics of the full excavation. At the same time, the complexity of the construction also makes the design not only purely architectural or landscape creation, but also more like the excavation of the village culture and the reshaping of the characteristics.

The object of the design is an ordinary but special house at the west entrance of the village. Ordinary because it is the most basic and common type of unit building in the modern countryside of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, and special because it is at the "village entrance" of a small settlement, which distinguishes the boundary between the village and the field, and should have the unique indicative and public character of the space as the "village entrance" from the characteristics of the place. It should have a unique indicative and public character as a space at the "village entrance" in terms of the characteristics of the place. With the idea of "a small drop in the ocean", the house is a place where the purity of heaven and earth is realized in the pear tree, the pear flower, the breeze, and the light and shadow. The huts are scattered in the orchard, on top of the pear branches, to see the flowers and fruits in full bloom, without looking at each other, each with its own scenery. In the off-season, the huts are used as a resting place for fruit farmers, while in the flowering season, they are transformed into wild and luxurious farmhouses, which maximizes the satisfaction of different needs of tourists and farmers. The units can be combined with each other to form a colony that visitors need, so that people can enjoy the charm of the "sea of flowers".

We kept them and the pond in front of the gate as the axis, and the rest of the dilapidated houses had to be demolished and rebuilt. The new buildings were allowed to establish an enclosure on the south, west and north sides, with the south-west corner entering and the north-west corner exiting, and the transition area between the old and new buildings forming the inner courtyard.

This project is part of the overall revitalization plan for the old village of Hanhonggou in Qinyuan County, Shanxi Province, and is based on a triplex courtyard located in the middle of the old village on high ground. There is a vacant three-hole kiln cave in the courtyard, which is in good condition, but the compartments, inverted seats, walls and gates have collapsed, leaving only the foundation stones. The most important element of the site is the large acacia tree outside the courtyard. It is hundreds of years old, but still has many branches and leaves, guarding the village like a god. The Pioneer Xia Di Shui Tian Bookstore is located on the north side of the ancient village of Xia Di in Pingnan, Fujian, surrounded by a piece of paddy field. The former building was a long-abandoned local residence, with only three intact old rammed earth walls and a crumbling courtyard wall when the architects arrived. Respecting the history of the site and the landscape of the village as a whole, the new part of the building is largely hidden within the old walls, and from the outside it seems that nothing has happened. The remnants of the old walls are seen as containers that encase the new concrete and steel construction, creating a dialog between the contemporary and the traditional.
