The skirt building design for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

On June 7th, 2006, 65438+February 7th, 2006, BOCOG invited the design unit to hold a mobilization meeting for skirt building design, and made clear the design tasks, requirements and progress to the design unit. From February 15, 2006 to February/0/5, 2008 10/5, the design of the skirt building underwent 12 deepening revisions and scheme submission, and the final scheme was determined on March 15, 2008 and selected by Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts. Since then, after more than two months of detailed revision, the final plan has been finalized and implemented at the end of May 2008.

The design of the podium of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was inspired by the image of the Olympic core graphic "Xiangyun", named "Jade Belt Xiangyun". Different from the podium of previous sports events, the podium designed by Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts adopts a split structure. Each podium consists of seven basic units, and the whole podium is bright yellow representing honor in China traditional culture to show the highest reward for the winning athletes. The arc of the podium is staggered, like flowing clouds, which embodies the meaning of "jade belt and auspicious clouds" and means connecting friends from all corners of the country through the Olympic Games. The overall shape of the podium is patchy, full of rhythmic beauty, which contains the spirit of athletes courageously striving for the first place, and at the same time embodies the sublimity and sacredness of the Olympic Games and good luck. In addition, designers fully consider the concept of humanization when creating. Because the podium has certain load-bearing requirements and large volume, the podium used for the Olympic Games is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and filled with polyurethane. Each unit weighs 28-32kg, which is relatively light, and the bottom of each unit is designed with a groove, which is convenient for carrying. Anti-skid ribs on the surface can effectively prevent athletes from falling.
