The University of Massachusetts, founded in 1863, is a public university in Massachusetts. With 60,000 registered students, it is the largest university group in New England, and a comprehensive school recognized by the Association of Colleges and University of New England (the Association is one of the six most authoritative certification institutions in the United States that accredit universities in the region by region, and is also recognized by the United States Department of Education). The University of Massachusetts has five campuses, namely Amherst Campus, Boston Campus, Dartmouth Campus, Lowell Campus, University of Massachusetts Medical College (located in Worcester) and an online education university. Relying on these five campuses, online education, traditional education and mixed education projects based on these two methods are actively carried out. Moreover, the campus of Boston is the only local public university, and the tuition is low, which is about 40% of that of private universities. There are many Nobel Prize winners, Pulitzer Prize winners, and members of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Institute of Medicine. The University of Massachusetts ranked 35th among American research universities, and ranked among the top 100 in Newsweek in 2006. The school specializes in education, IT, nursing, public health, management, criminal justice, tourism and literature.
