Traditional Chinese Medicine in Japan
Chinese medicine is a traditional medicine in Japan, which is mainly developed on the basis of Chinese medicine. The treatment methods of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions are mainly herbs, but also traditional Chinese medicine treatments, such as acupuncture and massage.
Chinese medicine was introduced into Japan from China in the 7th century to the 9th century. In the Edo period, the traditional treatment method originated from Chinese medicine was called "China Medicine" to distinguish it from "Lanfang Medicine" imported from Europe and "Where Medicine" from Japan itself. Traditional Chinese medicine takes Treatise on Febrile Diseases, Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Synopsis of the Golden Chamber as its main classics.
Modern Japan began to accept China medical drugs into the list of drugs permitted by medical insurance from 1967. At present, 148 kinds of Chinese medicines have been recognized.
