Analysis of CDL logistics advantages
Generally speaking, distribution strategies include traditional inventory strategy, transit logistics strategy and direct distribution strategy. Generally speaking, retail chain stores do not adopt a single distribution strategy, but adopt a combined distribution strategy. Table 1 shows the comparison of three distribution strategies in terms of risk taking, transportation cost, storage cost and delivery time.
DSD means that goods do not pass through warehouses and distribution centers. Manufacturers or suppliers that implement DSD deliver goods directly to retailers' stores. The advantages of DSD strategy are:
(1) Retailers avoid the cost of operating distribution centers;
(2) Shorten the delivery time. The shortcomings of this strategy are as follows: ① Because there is no central inventory, the risk sharing effect is denied. ② The transportation cost of the manufacturer or supplier increases. DSD is very popular in the grocery industry. Using DSD can keep the freshness of goods, reduce the damage of goods transportation and shorten the delivery cycle and time.
