According to some veteran stove painting artists, similar to the stove paintings in other areas of Jiangnan, Tongxiang stove paintings can be roughly divided into three categories: line type, pattern type and text type.
Among the three types, line type is the simplest, while pattern type kitchen paintings are much more complex. They can generally be divided into three types: story and legend type, landscape type and allegorical object type.
The legendary types of stories include "Sworship in the Taoyuan", "Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage", "Tai Gong Fishing", "Xiao He Chasing Han Xin Under the Moon", etc.
