Who is the father of mechanics in China?

China's father of mechanics is Qian Weichang.

Opened China's first mechanics research class and mechanics teacher training class, the creation of the Shanghai Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics; and at the same time created a national series of academic conferences on modern mathematics and mechanics, pioneering the direction of research in theoretical mechanics and the academic direction of nonlinear mechanics.

For China's mechanical industry, civil engineering and construction, aerospace and military industry has established a monumental feat, known as China's modern "father of mechanics", "the father of applied mathematics".

Qian Weichang's Contributions:

As an educator, Qian Weichang put forward a set of complete, rich, systematic, and scientific theories of China's higher education, and made outstanding contributions to China's higher education theory. He put forward the concept of "removing the four walls", insisted on the "three systems" (credit system, course selection system, short semester system), emphasized on cultivating students' scientific and humanistic thinking, and advocated the idea of harmonious education and aesthetic education.
