1, Lantern Festival
In old Nantong, lights were lit on the 13th day of the first month and lights were turned off on the 18th day of the first month. There is a saying that "thirteen or four gods watch the lights, fifteen or six people watch the lights, and seventeen or eight ghosts watch the lights", and there is a move of "putting lights on".
2. Lantern Festival
On the thirteenth day of the first lunar month, the lights are turned on and the lights are turned off on the eighteenth. These six days are called Lantern Festival. During the Lantern Festival, there are many temples with lights inside and outside Nantong. On the fifteenth and sixteenth nights, many shops set off fireworks in front of the store, which was watched by many people.
Since the first day of the first month, there have been many lamp sellers in Cross Street. Sell lanterns, lion lanterns, rabbit lanterns, frog lanterns, lantern lanterns, ball lanterns, etc. , are based on contempt for colored paper paste, and will be sold to 15 and 16 at the latest. Some people hang the Son of God on the 18th day of the first month, and some people also set the sun on the first day of February.
Step 3 eat new year's eve dinner
After the New Year's Eve dinner, we should first offer sacrifices to our ancestors so that they can "lead the spirit". After that, the family ate and drank together regardless of gender and age. If relatives are not at home, leave an empty seat and put a pair of chopsticks to show family reunion, bid farewell to the old and welcome the new.
4. The second day of February
On the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar, there is a custom for every family to take care of their daughters. As the saying goes, "On February 2nd, every family takes their daughters, but if they don't, they will be poor. If their daughter didn't come for rotten legs, their son-in-law wouldn't allow them to come as meat turtles. " Yin Fujia took her daughter to have a sumptuous family dinner. Even if her family was poor, she had to have a symbolic drink. Those who didn't have their own daughters had to invite a "dry daughter". This custom has been passed down to this day.
5. Lantern Festival gongs and drums
In the old folk customs, the sound of gong knocking every day is regarded as an alarm, so children are not allowed to play with gong at ordinary times, but they can enjoy it during the Spring Festival, and there is no defense when it is dark, especially during the Lantern Festival in the first month, which is not limited by time. Every Lantern Festival, the Xiaoguandi Temple in Chengdong Street (near Nantong Cinema, the securities building has now been built) spontaneously holds gongs and drums competitions.
In the past, the gongs and drums of the Lantern Festival resounded through the night sky of Tongcheng, and the whole city was filled with a warm atmosphere of hope for the New Year, which was the happiest festival for children and adults.
