Yang Liping

is a native of the Bai ethnic group in Dali, Yunnan Province.

She grew up with a love of dance, she did not enter any dance school, in 1971 from the village into the Xishuangbanna State Song and Dance Troupe. 1986 she created and performed a solo dance "Spirit of the Sparrow", a shot to fame. In 1986, she created and performed the solo dance "The Spirit of the Bird" and became famous, and was regarded as the "Witch" and "God of Dance", and in 1998, she wrote, directed and acted in the movie "The Sun Bird", which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Montreal International Film Festival. Recently, she appeared in the mainland version of "The Legend of the Eagle Shooting Heroes" as "Mei Chaofeng", which became the biggest buy of the show.

She is the only one who can express heavenly and human music with her breathtakingly beautiful body language, which inspires us to understand and tolerate the infinite possibilities of art. Her dance is timeless because of its purity, invaluable because of its originality, and televised because of its high and low quality. Her courage to defy artistic dogma and established rules is related to her talent, but her subversive and original spirit has made her a spiritual ally and artistic benchmark for her successors.

1994 The State Council of the People's Republic of China awarded her the title of National Model of Progress in National Unity. The solo dance "The Spirit of the Sparrow" won the Gold Medal of the 20th Century Dance Classics of the Chinese nation.

1997 Participated in the Osaka International Arts Festival, Osaka, Japan, and was awarded the highest art prize by the Osaka International Exchange Center. The National Folk Dance Association of the Philippines awarded her as a lifelong member.

1998 The movie "Island of the Sun", which she directed and starred in, won the Grand Jury Prize at the Trier International Film Festival.
