What is Chinese painting?
Chinese painting has its own system and unique features in the world art field, and has become the mainstream of the oriental painting system. The characteristics of Chinese painting are first manifested in the tool materials, which are often painted on Xuan paper or silk with special brush, ink or pigment made in China. Because of the use of special brush to paint, "pen and ink" has become an important term in Chinese painting techniques and theories, and sometimes even the general name of Chinese painting techniques.
The so-called "pen" refers to different pen skills and methods such as hook, bridle, wrinkle and point, which makes Chinese painting show endless line interest; The so-called "ink" means that Chinese painting uses ink instead of color, and uses ink methods such as flooding, dyeing, splashing and accumulation to produce rich and subtle chromaticity changes, which is usually called "five colors of ink" (referring to five different shades of black, such as coke, thick, heavy, light and clear) or "six colors" (the above-mentioned "five colors" plus the white of rice paper).
