The role and construction of ignition coil

The role of the ignition coil is to convert low voltage electricity into high voltage electricity of 15,000~40,000 volts to meet the needs of spark plug ignition. According to the different magnetic circuit and structure, ignition coil can be divided into open magnetic circuit and closed magnetic circuit. Most conventional ignition systems use open magnetic circuit ignition coils. Closed magnetic circuit ignition coils are commonly used in high energy ignition electronic ignition systems. (1) open magnetic circuit ignition coil open magnetic circuit ignition coil basic structure is as follows: by the iron core, winding, gum wood cover, ceramic cups and other components. The core is made of 0.3-0.5mm thick silicon steel sheet, the core is wound with primary and secondary windings. The secondary winding is usually wound with 0.06~0.10mm diameter enameled wire for 11000~26000 turns; the primary winding resistance is outside, usually 230~370 turns of 0.5~1.0mm enameled wire. One end of the secondary winding is connected to a spring plate in the high-voltage jack of the cover, and the other end is connected to one end of the primary winding; the two ends of the primary winding are connected to the low-voltage terminals on the cover. A magnetically conductive steel casing is installed between the winding and the casing and filled with asphalt or transformer oil to minimize magnetic leakage, strengthen insulation, and prevent moisture intrusion. (2) closed magnetic circuit ignition coil closed magnetic circuit ignition coil structure is as follows: in the traditional open magnetic circuit ignition coil, the magnetic flux of the secondary winding in the iron core through the magnetically conductive steel sleeve to form a circuit, the magnetic lines of force up and down through the air, the magnetic circuit reluctance is large, the magnetic flux loss is large, and the conversion efficiency is low (60% or so); closed magnetic circuit ignition coil core is "Yue" or "Yue" shaped or "Yue" shaped or "Yue" shaped or "Yue" shaped. The iron core of the closed magnetic circuit ignition coil is "Yue" or "Kou" shaped. The primary winding is wound inside the core, and the secondary winding is wound outside the primary winding. The core forms a closed magnetic circuit with only a small air gap in the magnetic circuit. The closed magnetic circuit ignition coil has less leakage, low reluctance, low energy loss, high conversion efficiency, and can make the ignition coil miniaturized.
