"How to write an essay on "Breathing together *** Destiny, heart to heart
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with friends from all walks of life in Macao on the occasion of the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Sino-Portuguese Forum. For a long time, all of you have made important contributions to the prosperity and stability of Macau. On behalf of the Central Government, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and high respect to you, and extend my cordial greetings and best wishes to our compatriots in Macau.
Macao is a treasure of the Great Motherland. It is my long-awaited wish to visit our compatriots in Macau. Every time I arrive in Zhuhai, I have to stop and look at Macau, which is so close at hand. My feelings at that time can be described by two lines of a poem written by Yin Guangren, Macao's first governor, which reads, "The scenery is so beautiful that it stirs up thoughts of autumn, and the old mountains are like pictures of white clouds". Yesterday, when I set foot on this land for the first time, I could not calm down for a long time, just like returning to my hometown after a long absence.
From the map of China, Macau is like a beautiful lotus flower reaching out to the sea, rippling on the blue waves of the South China Sea. Lotus roots deep and leafy, is holy, peaceful, quiet, a symbol of peace, but also a symbol of harmony and tranquility, prosperity. The beautiful Macau is "a poem to read and a picture to see". The towering Guia Lighthouse, the winding Nam Van Lake, the famous Samba Sacred Site and the purple smoke of the A-Ma Court are like a piece of artistic painting, giving Macau endless charm. Due to its special geographical location and historical reasons, before the Opium War, Macau had been the center of cultural exchange between the East and the West. Western-style churches, Western murals, Western medicine and Western guns were all introduced to Mainland China through Macau. The first Chinese student to study in the United States, Yung Ma-teung, who graduated from Yale University, studied in Macao and then went abroad to pursue his studies. Today in Macau, Chinese and Portuguese are mixed together, Chinese and Western architecture is interesting, and Chinese and Western religions are in harmony***existing, letting people feel the unique flavor of Chinese and Western cultures converging and fusing, and living in harmony***.
Mountains are not as high as the immortals. Macau is small in size and population, but it is full of elites and celebrities, leaving behind the footprints of many famous people in history. Here, Lin Zexu defied the powers, for the survival of the nation to ban opium; Zheng Guanying contemplation, shouting, wrote a cautionary tale; Qiu Fengjia contact, for the restoration of Taiwan blood call; Sun Yat-sen hanging pots to help the world, planning *** and greatness. Macau also nurtured the people's musician Xian Xinghai, who composed the "Yellow River Cantata", the strongest voice of the times for the salvation and survival of the Chinese nation. The unique natural and humanistic charm of Macau is not only the creation of history, but also the creation of the human soul. Although Macao has gone through thick and thin, it has always been an inalienable part of China's territory, occupies an important position in the hearts of the Chinese people, and has a special influence and status in the development of China's history and culture.
On December 20, 1999, Macao returned to the embrace of its motherland, ushering in a new era of "one country, two systems", "Macao people ruling Macao" and a high degree of autonomy. Under the leadership of the successive Chief Executives and the Government of the Special Administrative Region (SAR), the vast number of Macao residents have been striving for excellence in governance and unity, and a new Macao that is thriving and prospering has been unfolding in front of the world. Macao's economy has quickly reversed the situation of continuous decline before the handover, and the GDP has maintained a rapid double-digit growth, with a per capita growth of nearly US$40,000, which has jumped to the top in Asia. The city has been changing rapidly, with a number of landmark buildings such as the Sports Center and the Science and Technology Museum rising, the Sai Van Bridge being successfully completed, and the groundbreaking of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Macao, a city of history and culture, is making great strides towards becoming a modern tourist destination. The standard of living of the people has improved significantly, with the full implementation of 15-year free education and the rapid expansion of the free healthcare network, presenting a favorable situation of harmony and contentment for the whole society. The level of Macao's opening up to the outside world has also significantly increased, with enterprises and tourists from more and more countries coming to Macao for investment and tourism, and Macao's contacts with foreign countries and international organizations expanding, making its role as a bridge in the cooperation and exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries more and more prominent. It can be said that since the reunification with the motherland, it has been the fastest period of development in the history of Macao, and Macao compatriots have shared the dignity and glory of the motherland. The development and progress of Macao is another successful realization of the scientific concept of "one country, two systems", and a sign of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The development and progress of Macao is the result of the SAR Government's leadership of people from all walks of life in Macao to forge ahead, fully demonstrating that Macao's compatriots have the wisdom, ability and means to manage, build and develop Macao well.

Macao's history over the past 400 years has recorded the weakness and humiliation of the old China, and also written the development and progress of the new China. When the motherland is good, Macau is good; when the motherland prospers, Macau prospers. This is a truth that the rise and fall of Macau tells us.
"More than four hundred years of long hope". Although Macao and the motherland has been separated, suffered hundreds of years of colonial rule, but Macao compatriots have always been connected to the motherland blood, flesh and blood, Macao's fate has always been closely linked to the rise and fall of the great motherland. To share the same breath, **** destiny, heart to heart, is a true depiction of the relationship between Macao and the motherland.
In the years when our country's feudal dynasty was in turmoil and in decline, Macau was first stolen and then occupied, and began the painful process of separation from the motherland. 1844, the Qing government and the United States signed the first unequal treaty here, the Treaty of Wang Xia, and the table on which the signatures were made at that time is still preserved in the backyard of Puji Zen Temple. But the compatriots of Macao did not remain silent and submissive, and the struggle against colonial rule never ceased.
In the 1930s and 40s of the last century, at a critical moment when the Chinese nation was facing internal and external problems and facing survival, the compatriots of Macao rose up to fight against the Japanese and to save their lives. Macau took in more than 250,000 refugees and opened more than 140 schools to train various kinds of talents for the motherland. Macao compatriots formed the "Macao Four Sectors Disaster Relief Association" and actively carried out anti-Japanese relief activities. People have not forgotten that Mr. and Mrs. Ma Wan Ki, who were in the prime of their life, donated 50,000 dongs for their wedding feast to raise the orphans of the anti-Japanese. A number of Macau's young people went to the battlefield of the anti-Japanese war, throwing their heads and spilling their blood, and writing a memorable chapter of patriotism with their youth and lives.
When the new China was proclaimed, the five-star red flag was hoisted in the patriotic schools of Macao, expressing the joy of Macao compatriots in embracing the newborn **** and the country. Subsequently, in the face of Western embargoes and blockades, Macao compatriots imported a large number of western medicines, rubber, iron and steel, diesel fuel and other scarce strategic materials for the motherland, which vigorously supported the country's capital construction. After the reform and opening up, Macao's compatriots brought valuable capital, technology and advanced management experience to the Mainland, making positive contributions to the modernization and construction cause, and the torch relay of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in Macao was an unprecedented event. Macao's compatriots have always been enthusiastic in participating in and supporting the public welfare undertakings in the Mainland, and have donated more than HK$500 million to the Wenchuan earthquake disaster area alone.
The warmth and coldness of our compatriots in Macau is always on the mind of Motherland. Since the return of Macao, the Central Government has always been highly concerned about the stable economic and social development of Macao. 2003 Macao suffered a major impact of the "SARS" epidemic. The Central Government decisively extended a helping hand by signing the "Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement" in a timely manner, launching the opening up of some mainland provinces and cities for residents to travel to Macao in the form of "Individual Visit Scheme", and supporting the Macao banks in the trial operation of Renminbi (RMB) business. These initiatives played an important role in helping Macao to successfully escape from economic difficulties, and in the second half of 2008, the international financial crisis erupted, and Macao's economic development also suffered a huge impact. The Central Government promptly announced a package of policy measures to support the stable development of the economy of Hong Kong and Macao, covering a wide range of areas such as trade, finance, services, tourism, food safety and energy supply. The firm support of the Central Government has added confidence and strength to Macao in coping with the challenges and tiding over the difficulties. The Central Government is also highly concerned about the long-term development of Macao. When formulating the 11th Five-Year Plan and the 12th Five-Year Plan, it has included the exchanges and cooperation between Macao and the Mainland, opening up a broad space for Macao's long-term prosperity and stability.
Compatriots and friends:
At present, the development of Macao is standing at a new historical starting point, with both rare opportunities and severe challenges. No matter how many difficulties and obstacles there are on the road ahead, the Great Motherland will always be the strong backing for the prosperity, stability and development of Macao. The Central Government will continue to unswervingly implement the principles of "one country, two systems", "Macao people ruling Macao" and a high degree of autonomy, act in strict accordance with the Basic Law of Macao, fully support the Chief Executive and the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to govern in accordance with the law, and fully support the efforts of people from all walks of life to realize the broadest possible development under the banner of patriotism and love for Macao. We fully support Macao in realizing the broadest possible unity under the banner of patriotism and love for Macao, in promoting the moderate and diversified development of its economy, in strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the Mainland, and in expanding external exchanges. Here, I would like to raise a few points of hope for maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Macao:
Firstly, to improve the scientific governance of the Government. The SAR Government's goal of promoting scientific decision-making and building a sunshine government is in line with the reality of Macau and the expectations of the general public. It is necessary to y understand the situation and opinions of the community, strengthen communication and consultation with various associations and sectors, and widely listen to the views and aspirations of all strata, so as to promote scientific governance. We should adhere to the rule of law, strengthen institution building, improve government administration rules and regulations, and enhance the standard of government governance. We should take the initiative to strengthen internal supervision, introduce social supervision, increase the transparency of government work, safeguard the public's right to know, and allow power to operate in the sunshine, so as to strive to build a service-oriented government that is hardworking, clean, efficient, and dedicated to the people.
Second, to promote moderate and diversified economic development. We should vigorously develop modern service industries such as tourism, convention and exhibition, finance and cultural creativity, regulate the moderate and orderly development of the gaming industry, and strive to build Macau into a world center of tourism and leisure. In particular, it is necessary to fully utilize the series of policies and measures of the Central Government in support of Macao's development, seize the favorable opportunities arising from the formulation and implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan, the promulgation and implementation of the "Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta" and the "Hengqin Overall Development Plan", strengthen the cooperation with the Mainland, especially with Guangdong Province, and accelerate the pace of the construction of major infrastructures. It is also important to strengthen cooperation with the Mainland, especially Guangdong Province, to accelerate the pace of major infrastructure construction, to cultivate new industries with competitive edge and points of economic growth, and to enhance Macao's ability to withstand economic risks. With a long-term perspective, we should vigorously develop education, science and technology, culture and other social undertakings, build first-class universities with regional characteristics, and accelerate the training of various types of talents, so as to provide manpower support for the long-term development of Macao.
Thirdly, we should strive to safeguard and improve people's livelihood. The fruits of Macau's development should be shared by the majority of Macau residents. To take advantage of the SAR Government's relatively strong financial strength, the public **** spending more tilted towards people's livelihood. We should speed up the construction of public **** housing, vigorously promote public **** transportation projects, and strive to solve the livelihood issues of greatest concern to the public. Special care should be given to the disadvantaged groups to help them resolve their difficulties and continuously improve their living environment and standard of living.
Fourth, we attach importance to maintaining social harmony and stability. Macao compatriots have always had a good tradition of speaking of unity, considering the overall situation and emphasizing consultation. With the rapid economic and social development of Macao, the interests of various strata in Macao tend to be diversified, with increasingly diverse demands, but the fundamental interests are the same. We should cherish and carry forward the good tradition of tolerance ****, seek common ground while reserving differences, take into account the overall situation and work together to realize the broadest possible unity under the banner of patriotism and love for Macao, and create a good social environment and atmosphere for the development of Macao's various undertakings.
Maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Macao is the ****same desire of all Chinese people, including Macao compatriots. 100 years ago, the famous thinker Zheng Guanying wrote the "Dangerous Words of the Shengshi" in a house only a few kilometers away from here, which awakened millions of Chinese people. He hit the nail on the head when he pointed out that to make a country strong, the first rich country; to make a country rich, the first rich people. The essence of wealth and strength is not all in the ships and cannons, but in making the best use of people's talents. These deafening insights have given hope to countless people of benevolence and aspiration who hold the ideal of enriching the country and saving the people in the midst of frustration and confusion, and they are still shining with the light of truth today. I firmly believe that in a place like Macao, which has a fine tradition of tolerance and mutual advancement and mutual assistance, as long as we collect the wisdom of the people, gather the hearts of the people, pool their strengths together, and fully mobilize the enthusiasm of each and every Macao compatriot, we will be able to build Macao into a better place. Macau, the lotus flower rooted in the fertile soil of the motherland, will surely blossom more splendidly and eye-catchingly!
Thank you all!
