How did the takeaway industry emerge?

The rise of the takeout industry can be traced back to around 2011, when the online food ordering model that emerged in the United States spread to China. It was then that Meituan and HungryMall, which now dominate the takeaway industry, were launched.

Early on, what we understood by "takeout" was actually meals packed away from restaurants. From the attributes of the word takeaway, it is more like a noun. At that stage, the point of "takeout", is to order their own food in the restaurant, and then packaged after their own take away. Later, McDonald's and KFC, well-known fast food companies, in addition to dine-in, also synchronized with the start of the takeaway mode. These companies set up their own delivery teams for takeout, or they work with some logistics companies.

We are now familiar with the platform mode of takeaway (Hungry Mou, Meituan), this period of takeaway, characterized by a third-party catering platform orders, the platform organization delivery. This stage of the takeaway can be said to be blossoming .
