Monks are Buddhists and come from abroad, and Taoists are Taoists, which developed here. This is the essential difference between the two. So there will be some cultural differences between them. Monks believe that hair is a symbol to commemorate the secular world, while Taoists are influenced by the cultural concept that every part of the body is given by parents. So different doctrines lead to different attitudes towards hair. Even though everyone wants to get away from this world, they all do things differently.

Therefore, monks shave their heads only to bid farewell to this secular world, indicating that they are far away from their previous lives, and because they are foreign and have no concept of people at that time. However, Taoism is different. They are native culture, so they need to follow the rules. Even if you want to be detached from yourself at ordinary times, you will inevitably be influenced by the prevailing atmosphere at that time: parents should protect their bodies and not destroy them privately.

Buddhism is strict, and so are their disciples. Therefore, if you choose to become a monk, you can't kill. Taoism, on the other hand, is divided into two factions because it is vegetarian or eats meat, but the reason for their quarrel is different from that of Buddhism, only that they are afraid of delaying their practice, rather than pitying small animals. So it can be said that the two are completely different. We can see that Taoism is not so strict, they pay more attention to their own tendencies and will not embarrass themselves.

Even if they are both for self-detachment and the pursuit of ideological sublimation, there are still essential differences between them. One is foreign culture, which will not be influenced by the prevailing atmosphere at that time; And one is bred locally and will not harm the body left by parents. Although these two schools were people's yearning for a better life at that time, one was stricter about the rules, and the other was more focused on their own initial heart and practice, so they seemed the same, but they were actually different.
