Scientists in China subvert tradition.

A group of great scientists appeared in ancient Europe, mainly because Europe had soil suitable for science to take root and sprout. In fact, there were scientists in ancient China. Famous are ancient astronomer Zhang Heng, ancient mathematician Zu Chongzhi and ancient medical scientist Li Shizhen. The research results of these ancient scientists were hundreds of years ahead of the world at that time. Unfortunately, the social environment in ancient China was not suitable for scientific development, and the scientific and technological level leading the world at that time did not continue to develop. On the contrary, these scientific research achievements have been continuously lost in successive dynasties.

Newton once said that he stood on the shoulders of giants and achieved today's achievements. In ancient China, there was a kind of portal view, and everyone should keep their school secrets and refuse to share them. So many ancient research achievements have been lost in the long river of history with the passage of time. Because of this ancient concept, scientists in ancient China had to explore many things by themselves, without the experience of their predecessors, so they could not stand on the shoulders of giants. You know, science is developed from generation to generation. If the inheritance of today's prosperous science and technology is cut off, then technology is likely to go backwards.

Moreover, Chinese characters are not suitable for the development of science. Like in the west, a complex formula can be expressed concisely with some characters, but it will be very troublesome and difficult to understand if a formula is described in classical Chinese. This problem is actually very big, because without a set of simple and memorable scientific symbols, it will be more difficult to carry out scientific research and teach students, which is tantamount to raising the threshold of science and is very unfavorable to scientific development.

A very important reason is that the ancient scholars in China were mainly imperial examinations, and those who studied mathematics, physics and chemistry would be scolded for doing nothing. You know, it was very difficult for ordinary people in ancient times to support a barren scholar. Many people send their sons to study in the hope that they will be elected as officials in the future. But in ancient times, the study of science was obviously not as real as the study of the Four Books and Five Classics.

In this environment, it is not surprising that scientists like Galileo can't appear.
