The methods and materials for making bows and arrows are as follows:

Material of bow and arrow: a knife, an elastic dry wood about one meter long, a thin nylon rope and a thin wooden stick.

Making method of bow and arrow

1. Use a tool such as a knife to cut off the wood in the arc at the thicker part of the stick, that is, the abdomen of the stick, until the width and tension are the same as those of the thinner part.

2. Then cut the gap and tie the rope. Use a knife to cut two notches (2 to 2.5 cm) one to two inches at each end of the bow. The notches are half-moon shaped and are on the outside of the arc.

3. Choose bowstring. Raw leather whip, fine nylon rope, hemp rope, fishing line, cotton thread or silk, ordinary hemp thread and even vines or tendons can be used as strings. The rope should not be elastic, because the strength comes from wood rather than rope.

4. Choose a stick as an arrow. The straighter the stick used as an arrow, the better. Wood had better be dry. Each arrow is about half the length of your bow, or long enough to open it.

5. Flatten around the arrow. Put the shaft of the arrow on hot coal and heat it slightly, and the arrow will straighten. Don't burn the stick. Hold the arrow straight when the stick cools. Carve a small notch in the back end of the arrow to install the string. The simplest arrow is to sharpen the front end of the shaft.

6. In this way, your bow and arrow is made successfully.

Note: the middle part of the bow should be strong and thick, the two ends should be thin and elastic, and the thickness and length of the two ends should be roughly equal.
